Refuse-derived fuel (RDF) is a fuel produced by shredding and dehydrating solid waste (MSW) with a Waste converter technology.
Implementation of fuel from waste is a complex issue because:
- regulations vary from country to country.
- local legislation specifies quality limitations for fuel from waste.
- available raw materials influence quality and quantity of usable RDF.
- diverse input materials require local adaption of processing technology.
Types of waste suitable for RDF production:
» Industrial Waste - IW
-
generated by factories from industrial production
-
clearly defined waste, seperated from other materials
» Commercial Waste - CW

-
waste from premises for the purposes of a trade or business

» Commercial and Industrial Waste – C&I

» Municipal Solid Waste – MSW

- Consisting of daily items that are discarded by the public such as households, institutions and light industries
